Setting Priorities and Other Nuisances

People who know my non-blogosphere persona well enough can confirm that I am one of these people who constantly have at least three balls up in the air at once. Setting priorities? Naw, not for me, dude. There’s just too much interesting stuff out there that has to be explored.

Arriving in Berlin, exhausted by a career in the online industry while writing a book and maintaining a private and social life as well as a facebook page, the direction was clear. Calming down. Setting priorities, focusing on the most important stuff and just relax and do nothing for a while.

And I am quite impressed with myself. It took me six whopping months to pile up enough things to do for myself to force me to re-prioritize again. That’s a personal record so far.

Nevertheless, let me give you a candid view on my August to-do list:

- Writing a compelling Sales package for my second novel that my agent can carry towards Frankfurt Book Fair (meaning, synopsis and 3 chapters – yey! but I’m not there yet, so I have to get going)
- Seeing great friends off Ireland personally (nay!)
- Partying like crazy to deal with the pain (yey!)
- Welcoming great friends to Berlin as guests (yey!)

- Finally getting a minor surgery done I have been postponing (nay!)
- Working on a major website project that I just bagged myself, while maintaining some regular translation and copy writing jobs of my faithful clients (yey!)
- Three days of Coaching Diploma Course, plus the sessions inbetween (yey!)
- Weekly blog posts (yey!)

Well … with so many yeys on my list and the nay being unavoidable, I guess you can see where this is going. As they like to sugar-coat in management – I had to make tough choices.

Meaning, I won’t be able to be an as active blogger as I would like to be over the next couple of weeks, both when it comes to posting and reading/commenting.

As I grew so accustomed and fond to my own little place and those of my new-found blogger-friends, I sincerely apologize for these irregularities in advance. I will be back with a vengeance as soon as the storm is over and will be as snotty and annoying as ever – promise! Take care until then, my lovelies.

Aw, fare thee well for just a brief while. You know we’ll be here when you’re back! Your keen wit will be missed, though…adoring your opening photo on this post, by the way. You have an impressive list to accomplish over the coming weeks, and I wish you much energy and success with it all! You’re a star.

Thanks so much for your kind words. As you can see I still haven’t unplugged completely … hard to go cold turkey. But as other famous Austrians used to say – I’ll be baack.

Thanks a lot, Lua. Yes, it is exciting but a bit sad to miss our regular little blog-exchanges. Anyway, hope I will have loads of stuff to write about after this month… and to read from your great blog. Take care! :)

This is not acceptable Eva. As we scale out the business we all need to do more with less and keep focused on the top-line deliverables moving forward. We can revisit your total resource allocation down the line but right now we need to you keep the blog prioritised as a key outcome.

Seriously though. Keep writing the blog. The busier you are, the more you get done :-)

Stephen, I have to admit defeat to this incredibly skillful pile of corporate *beeeeeeep*. Thanks for the encouragement to keep on writing (like, reminding me why it was a good thing to look for an alternative career at some stage). I take it as a compliment. I’ll start blogging again when I am rich and famous. Or whenever I feel the world needs another dose of my brilliant and insightful contributions, and quick! Hope to find your zingers underneath my blog more often, then. They really add.

Gosh Eva, you’re a busy bunny this month. Don’t worry, as Lua said, we all still be there when you’re back. Hope all goes well.

I know you’re withdrawing from the blogosphere for a bit, but when you get the chance, swing on over to my tree where I’ve got a lil’ something for you :) http://thefallenmonkey.com/2010/08/06/the-famo-awards/
